My office has provided counseling related services since 2001! The great thing about being around for this long is there isn’t much we have not seen or done. From helping couples save a failing marriage to speaking to a group rowdy teens, we have been in the trenches alongside thousands and thousands of amazing people. The time has allowed us to master the craft of helping you get from where you are to where you want to be.
For us, is about helping you have Breakthroughs in love, work, and self-confidence. We provide services in a boutique fashion, this simply means we focus on quality, not quantity. Taking the time to do thorough assessments, listen intensely to what you need and then giving straightforward guidance and tools is our focus. You can work with us in a variety of ways; individually, as a couple, through tele-therapy, through online courses, or attend one of our workshops.
The practice opened its doors in 2001 and was originally located in Houston, Texas. During the initial years, the company worked extensively with adolescent anger management issues and sexual abuse trauma. We later expanded our reach to include the needs of employees in the work place. Working extensively with employee assistance programs gave us the opportunity to address issues such as major depression, anxiety, marital discord, and low self-esteem. In 2007, the company moved from Houston to San Antonio. We established our presence in the San Antonio region by working closely with employees from USAA, Citibank, HEB, Toyota and the US Military. Currently, the central platform of the company is to help you have breakthrough in work and play.
We all want to feel appreciated, loved and accepted. Life however has a funny way of throwing us the totally opposite.
In these 17 years I’ve have had a front row seat to see how people breakthrough when all the odds are stacked against them. Unfortunately, I’ve also had a front row seat to see how circumstance can rob someone of their joy and happiness for decades. Listening and learning from these situations has given me a unique perspective on what it take to really have a Breakthrough.
To have a real breakthrough you have to rethink the way you look at making changes. It starts by getting clear about the secret ways in which you sabotage yourself and then getting even clearer about how your behavior will find new ways to surface in your life even after you’ve made changes.
Being the Owner and Clinical Director of the practice has kept me busy. In the last few years, I have counseled clients, mentored lots of university interns, wrote a children’s book, facilitated many workshops, and created an online program for women who want to have breakthroughs.
My specialty area is building self-esteem confidence around how people handle relationships and their career. I use many of the traditional counseling theories like cognitive behavioral therapy but I enjoy throwing in a little spirituality, meditation, and an approach I developed called the BackStory Breakthrough Method™.
The BackStory Method focuses on the idea that you don’t’ attract what you want, you attract want we believe. So much of what we believe comes from past baggage or our BackStory. Understanding and erasing your baggage changes everything.
The experiences I have gained have also opened up some pretty amazing doors for me. I have been privileged to appear as a guest expert on several TV and radio shows. Sharing what I’ve learned with a broader audience has been exciting!
Outside of the office, I’m a mom, wife, podcast lover, and a really down to earth person. I have two smart, sassy, daughters, one brilliant black lab, and one terrific husband.
