If you’ve listened to my podcast for any length of time, you know one of my main objectives is to change the way we look at mental health. Traditionally, we have all been taught to ONLY seek mental health treatment after things have gone really wrong. But what if we treated our mental health the same way we treat your physical help? Most of us get a yearly physical and go to the dentist every six months. We should do the same for our mental health, seek treatment not because anything is wrong but because you want to keep things headed in the right direction. I’ve coined this term getting a “couch time check-in.” During a couch time check-in you sit down with a therapist and discuss how things are going in several aspects of your life. I genuinely believe this process would go a long in preventing small issues from becoming big ones.
On today’s show, I’ll l give you a sneak peek into how a couch time check in can help you. We will explore six specific areas, and I’ll give you a simple tool to do a quick self-assessment. I think this show will be a great way to end the year and get you ready for 2021.
