Making the decision to seek therapy can feel overwhelming and even a little scary. Everything from “How much will it cost?” to “How do I find the right therapist?” are questions that may run through your mind. There are a lot of unknowns and many decisions to make. You may even begin to think, “Do I really need therapy?” The long-standing stigma associated with mental health may also make you feel a little shy about asking friends or family for advice and referrals.
On today’s show, I’m going to give you the inside scoop of how to navigate seeking therapy. After twenty plus years in the chair, I’ve learned a thing or two. We will cover everything from what’s the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist, to “How is someone who doesn’t even know me going to help me?” I think you’ll leave the show feeling less overwhelmed and more prepared to tackle the uncertain landscape of seeking therapy.
