Good Faith Estimate & No Surprises Act
At Neely Counseling Center, protecting your personal and health information is something we take seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard the information you share with us — and your rights regarding that information.
Good Faith Estimate & No Surprises Act
Under the No Surprises Act, individuals who are uninsured or who choose not to use their health insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) explaining the expected cost of their healthcare services before treatment begins.
A Good Faith Estimate is intended to help you understand the anticipated costs of your care and make informed decisions about your treatment.
What You Can Expect
- You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate before receiving non-emergency services.
- The estimate includes the expected cost of counseling services based on the information available at the time it is prepared.
- Because mental health treatment is individualized, the total cost of services may vary depending on your treatment needs, the number of sessions attended, and the type of services provided.
- A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not require you to receive services.
Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
You may also:
- Request an updated Good Faith Estimate if your treatment plan changes.
- Discuss your estimate with our office before beginning services.
- Ask questions about your expected costs at any time.
When You’ll Receive Your Estimate
Federal law requires healthcare providers to provide a Good Faith Estimate within specific timeframes based on when services are scheduled or requested.
